Caves Track
Area: Binna Burra
Guide updated · verify live track status with Queensland Parks
Caves Track is a 7 km return Grade 4 walk from Binna Burra (about 2 hours) with views to the Darlington Range and Coomera Valley, passing Kweebani Cave. Official advice: unstable surfaces and rockfall risk — do not linger at the cave.
Do not pair: Restricted-access areas are never attractions. No off-track gorge add-on.
Turnaround: If rockfall or closure notes appear on alerts, skip this track. Tullawallal or a lookout is Plan B.
- Lingering in Kweebani Cave against the official warning.
- Treating Coomera Gorge / Ballunjui as a secret extension.
- Grade 4 · Binna Burra return
- About 2 hours walking
- 7 km return
- Effort: hard
- Best for: Binna Burra walkers who want Coomera Valley views and Kweebani Cave as a pass-through, not a hang-out

Where you start
Binna Burra lower day-use or Saddle trailhead near Binna Burra Lodge
Queensland Parks notes the track can be walked from the Binna Burra lower day-use area or the track entry opposite the Saddle trailhead near the lodge road. Confirm signs on the day. Returning via the same track is recommended.
How to get there
- Binna Burra via Beechmont; last 1.8 km narrow. No through-road from Green Mountains.
- Park in signed areas. Lodge parking is not automatically park day-use.
How to do it (step by step)
- Follow the signed Caves Track. Pass Kweebani Cave without lingering — official rockfall / unstable surface warning.
- Views into Coomera Valley from signed points. Stay back from natural lookout edges.
- Return the same way as recommended. Do not invent a Coomera Gorge off-track finish — Coomera Gorge is restricted-access.
What to expect
Official: 7 km return, about 2 hours, Grade 4. Hoop pine, rainforest, Kweebani Cave as a brief passage, views to Darlington Range and Coomera Valley. Queensland Parks warns of unstable surfaces and rockfall — avoid lingering near the cave; view from a safe distance and move on.
What this is not
Coomera Gorge area, Ballunjui Falls area and other restricted-access zones are not lookout extensions. Egg Rock (Kurraragin) is a declared restricted-access cultural site. Stay on the signed Caves Track.
Packing list (shell, grip, water) lives on the gear hub— not as a merch wall on every walk. Pairing and Plan B: plan your visit · Wrong section / full car park Plan B.

Extra tips
- Two hours Grade 4 is enough for a Binna Burra morning. Adding Border Track after is a different sport.
- Cave is a pass-through with a warning, not a picnic site.
Often paired with Tullawallal Circuit— only if energy and weather allow.
