Centenary Track

Area: Green Mountains (O’Reilly’s)

Centenary Track is a 1.8 km return Grade 1 sealed path (about 30 minutes) between the Python Rock / Moran’s Falls trailhead and Green Mountains day-use. Opened for the park’s centenary. Accessible with assistance — confirm the official accessibility notes on the day.

Do not pair: Do not sell this as a substitute for Toolona on a hiking blog brag — different sport.

Turnaround: Out-and-back anytime. The whole point is an easy reverse.

  • Thinking Centenary is the Tree Top Walk (private O’Reilly’s product).
  • Starting Toolona because the sealed track felt “too easy” at 2pm.
  • Grade 1 · sealed, accessible with assistance
  • About 30 minutes walking
  • 1.8 km return
  • Effort: easy
  • Best for: First 30 minutes on the plateau, mixed mobility, or a calm start before Moran’s / Python

Distance, grade, time and open/closed status change — verify on Queensland Parks before you go.

Where you start

Python Rock and Moran’s Falls trailhead or Green Mountains day-use

Sealed link through subtropical forest. Benches. Bird noise. Not a waterfall circuit and not the Tree Top Walk.

How to get there

  1. Green Mountains via Canungra. Track starts at the Python Rock and Moran’s Falls trailhead (about 125 m back along the access road from Green Mountains day-use) or from the northern end of the Green Mountains car park.

How to do it (step by step)

  1. Walk or roll the sealed track. Use benches. Watch for birds rather than rushing.
  2. This can be the whole visit for mixed-ability groups. That is a successful Lamington day.
  3. If you continue to Moran’s or Python, treat those as separate graded walks, not “the rest of Centenary.”

What to expect

Official: 1.8 km return, 30 minutes, Grade 1. Sealed, historically significant centenary link through hoop pine and subtropical forest. Benches. Birdlife. The honest mixed-ability Green Mountains product.

How it fits a day

Use it as the whole outing, or as the walk between day-use parking and the Moran’s / Python trailhead. Do not confuse it with O’Reilly’s Tree Top Walk, which is privately operated and ticketed separately.

Packing list (shell, grip, water) lives on the gear hub— not as a merch wall on every walk. Pairing and Plan B: plan your visit · Wrong section / full car park Plan B.

Extra tips

  • Best first-timer reset after the winding drive.
  • Wheelchair / assistance: verify current official notes — “Grade 1” is not a promise of independent access every day.
