Tullawallal Circuit
Area: Binna Burra
Guide updated · verify live track status with Queensland Parks
Tullawallal Circuit is a 5 km Grade 3 loop from Binna Burra (about 1.5 hours) into the park’s most accessible cool-temperate rainforest — the northernmost Antarctic beech forest. It is not a waterfall circuit and not a restricted-area scramble.
Do not pair: Restricted areas are never an “extension” of Tullawallal.
Turnaround: If the circuit is closed on alerts, do a signed lookout or leave. Do not bush-bash to beech.
- Drove to O’Reilly’s for Antarctic beech because a Brisbane blog mixed the sections.
- Treating Egg Rock / Kurraragin as a nearby lookout add-on — it is restricted-access.
- Grade 3 · Binna Burra Antarctic beech
- About 1.5 hours walking
- 5 km circuit
- Effort: moderate
- Best for: Binna Burra visitors who want the most accessible cool-temperate / Antarctic beech patch

Where you start
Binna Burra trailhead
Start at the signed Binna Burra trailhead. Queensland Parks notes a clockwise circuit as the usual recommendation — confirm on the official page.
How to get there
- Binna Burra via Beechmont. Last 1.8 km very narrow. Allow ~70 minutes from Broadbeach in ordinary traffic.
- Do not drive the Green Mountains / Canungra road expecting a through-link to Tullawallal. Wrong section.
How to do it (step by step)
- Walk the signed circuit (clockwise if that is the current official recommendation).
- The forest change — subtropical to mossy beech — is the product. Stay on the track.
- Return via the signed loop. Do not follow social-media pins into restricted-access country.
What to expect
Official: 5 km circuit, about 1.5 hours, Grade 3, Binna Burra trailhead. Subtropical rainforest shifting to cool-temperate Antarctic beech at Tullawallal — northernmost patch in Australia according to Queensland Parks notes. Quiet, mossy, roots. Not a waterfall Instagram loop.
Section honesty
This walk lives at Binna Burra. Green Mountains has its own high-point beech along Border Track country — a different day. If you wanted Toolona waterfalls, you wanted Green Mountains, not this circuit.
Packing list (shell, grip, water) lives on the gear hub— not as a merch wall on every walk. Pairing and Plan B: plan your visit · Wrong section / full car park Plan B.

Extra tips
- Best Binna Burra short-to-medium walk for World Heritage “Gondwana” context without a Grade 4 epic.
- Pairs with Caves Track only if you have a full Binna Burra day and honest legs — two separate products.
Often paired with Caves Track— only if energy and weather allow.
